ABOUT: this web site. Best viewed with monitor set for 800 by 600

STATUS: This is beginning publication. I am adding to the site as I write the narrative. My 25 years of research is essentially complete for my life time. The advantage of web site publishing is that it can be updated as necessary and is easily distributed. I would appreciate your comments at the e-mail address on the Genealogy and Family History main page.

PRINCIPAL FAMILIES of the present generation.

The ancestors of David W. Onan II are ONAN and HOIBY. The first record of Onan is James Onan’s oath of allegiance in Philadelphia in 1815. The Hoiby family immigrated from Selbu, Norway to Minneapolis Minnesota in 1871.

The ancestors of Janemarie Barbara Hanan are HANAN and ANDERSON. The Hanan name was Hanau, and only two generations back in New York City have been found investigated. The Anderson family immigrated from Falkenberg, Sweden to New York in about 1900.

PRIVACY: We do not want to expose the children of family members to harassment or worse. Except for Jane and I, living persons are all over 70 years old in Descendancy charts and Family Group Records. Others are dead.

QUICK WAY TO USE THESE RECORDS IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NAME:

  1. Look at the Surnames. This is a list of ALL people in my genealogy, living or dead.
  2. If you find a name you want to follow, go to the Descendancy charts.
  3. If the name is in the Surname list but not found in the Descendancy chart, then it probably is a living person. Get in touch with me by e-mail and I will ask that person for permission to open the file.

DESCENDANCY CHARTS: The descendants of our major family lines. Spouses and children are listed. Record Identification Number (RIN) indicated.

PEDIGREE CHARTS: Contain birth and death information when known. Also it is a little easier to follow families back this way.

FAMILY GROUP RECORDS (FGRs): contain somewhat more information about individuals and have only one family per page.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ): What you always wanted to know but didn’t know who to ask.

SPECIAL SUBJECTS: Whatever I thought needed including that didn’t belong elsewhere.

DATES IN HISTORY: Nobody lives in a vacuum. Other things happening that affected our forebear’s directly or became wide spread news of the day.

SOURCES: The document or file used to compile this data and history.
